Tehran

A joint consortium consisted of four Iranian, three Singaporean, Malaysian, and Australian companies won the bid of the construction of the second phase of Qeshm airport in BOT method (Build, Operate, and Transfer).

Following the sign of the contract between this consortium and Qeshm Free Zone Organization which is supposed to be finished this week, 81 million US dollars will be provided as finance for performing the project.

According to Mohammad Ketabchi, technical manager of Qeshm Investment Development Company, the foreign and Iranian companies which have won the bid of this project have sufficient specialty in this respect.

“This consortium is determined to establish a company in Qeshm Island and to register it,” said Ketabchi.

The bid for construction the second phase of Qeshm airport started from October/November. Qeshm Free Zone Organization decided to implement BTO method in order to follow the profit issue as well. However, due to the low aerial traffic in Qeshm Island, some companies which wanted to take part the bid, were afraid of the return on investment.
